As I’ve written about before, one of the nice things about the CBS drama Criminal Minds is that it often includes quotations in the narration, and unlike most quotations you’ll hear on TV, they’re accurate for the most part.
Since the show is shown on Wednesdays at 9:00 Eastern/Pacific, I’m featuring quotations from the show each Wednesday until I catch up. Here’s the third batch of quotations, from approximately episodes 12-14:

Polish science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem passed away yesterday at the age of 84. He was best known as the author of Solaris, which was made into a film in 1972, and again in 2002.
Lem is seldom quoted. You might disagree if you search for Lem quotations, but I can assure you that most of those are incorrectly attributed to Lem and actually come from Polish writer Stanislaw J. Lec. We’ve only been able to source three verifiable Stanislaw Lem quotations:

I LOVE this quotation. He was talking about web design, but this quotation is universal. Whether you are talking about weight loss, office dynamics or web design, he’s right. There is NO silver bullet. Concentrating your efforts on finding one just distracts you from the important issues like learning to shoot.
When someone says something so clearly, the thought transcends what it was talking about and becomes classic. It’s less than a week old and this quotation is already a classic.

German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche is best known for philosophical works like Also Sprach Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, and The Antichrist, and his best-known quotations are probably “What does not destroy me makes me stronger” and “God is dead.” Personally, I appreciate him more for his comedy. The following are a few of my favorite Nietzsche quotations.
