After years of waiting, it looks like the popular television show, The Simpsons, is finally going to have a movie of its own. The trailer for The Simpsons’ movie is playing before the movie Ice Age 2. You can see it here.
Over the years, The Simpsons have given us many great quotations. Since there are so many writers for the shows, all the quotations have been attributed to Matt Groening, their original creator. Here are a few of my favorites:
Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1803-1873) has a bit of a reputation as a bad writer, mostly due to his famous line, “It was a dark and stormy night,” that lives on in endless parodies and even a bad writing contest. Since I’ve written about that before, I should probably mention that Bulwer-Lytton has a few great quotations as well as being the originator of the saying “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Here are a few of my favorites.

He’s best known for the things that he did (and didn’t) say. One of the most misquoted people in history, he actually sent press releases with “quotations” thought up by his staff.
