If you’re a regular user of our Quote search page, you know it’s not the ideal search—it works well for simple keyword searches, but finding a quotation you’re looking for isn’t always easy.
I’m working on a long-awaited list of improvements to our search feature. I don’t have the new search running yet, but I’ll make it available as a test for a week or two before it replaces the current version.
In the meantime, here’s your chance help shape the future of this site. If you’ve recently searched for a quotation, or if there’s one you’re looking for now—how did your search go? What would you like to see work differently? Do you usually search for particular things, or are you just browsing for inspiration or for a laugh?
You can leave a comment here, or as always, contact us by email. Thanks for your time!
Steve Jobs, Stanford University commencement address, June 12, 2005
So many times we hear that we need to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. That’s a really easy phrase to say, but being able to be positive when things are going all pear-shaped is a difficult thing to do.
If you are feeling like you’ve hit a low in your life, try looking at it like Steve Jobs would. He had been fired from a company that he created from the ground up. Instead of considering it a huge failure or disservice to him, he entered one of the most creative periods of his life. Now, he’s back on top of Apple and everything is coming up roses for him.
If you’re feeling low, concentrate on how you can turn that feeling around. Everything in life is how you look at it.
The smarmy guy from the Apple commercials is in a movie called Accepted. I really just clicked on the trailer because I wanted to see if this guy would be the same jerk as the “Apple” in the commercials. Instead I was pleasantly surprised by a witty and intelligent movie about the state of our colleges in the United States.
It’s rare when I can get a good quote from a movie. Most movies are written so it’s nearly impossible to get a quote that stands alone. I was able to get an amazing quote from just the trailer.
The truth of the matter is I learned more on my own than I ever learned from college. Every time I get mailers from my alma mater, I want to burn them. They want me to donate to the scholarship fund. The same scholarship I received to attend. I really feel like I SHOULD donate, but I feel so ripped off by my college experience that I fantasize about setting each of those flyers on fire in a blaze.
Instead, I put them in the recycling bin and attend to my own learning. It looks like this movie could be the best sequel to Animal House that has been conceived.
It’s summer here in the northern hemisphere and that means vacation time. People all over the United States plan elaborate trips. We spend a ton of money.
Trying to relax.
Trying to have fun.
Whenever I travel, I try to minimize the activities. I don’t want my day planned to the minute. I don’t want to sit around asking “What should we do?” either. I want to have some activities and I want to have some time to “just sits.”
I’ve been repeating the title of this web post to myself several times a day. I am hoping that by doing affirmations that my eating will get under control and I’ll be inspired about eating healthy again. Of course, I can’t just repeat a phrase and expect results.
