When I look back, I wonder at myself. Mike and I celebrate our 16 year wedding anniversary today. At our wedding, we set up a stereo in Carol’s bedroom window to play music in the backyard. We put in a Wagner CD and set it to repeat the entire afternoon.
The soundtrack for our wedding was Nazi-approved.
If I had known that Wagner had been a favorite of Hitler’s, I probably wouldn’t have liked him as much. Instead, Mike and I enjoyed the loud and emotional sound of Wagner’s work. Sixteen years later, we’re still judging music more on its sound than its politics.
I guess that’s a good thing.

Whenever I think of Bertrand Russell or any of the other greats in literature, I always believe that they have the same morals. I imagine them all to be “give me liberty or give me death” type of people. Instead, Bertrand was a very practical man.
It makes me wonder what other innate beliefs I have about the literary greats that are wrong.

At a promotional event, Stephen King and John Irving were joined by J. K. Rowling. They discussed the likelihood of the death of Harry Potter in Rowling’s new book and whether that is a wise move on Rowling’s part.
I guess we will all find out soon enough whether Harry Potter survives or not. We’ll also know a bit or two about Rowling when the book is finished as well.

“You don’t watch the news, do you?”
“No…”
“Well, there was a new terrorist plot that they stopped in London. At first I thought it was just propaganda, but it looks like the real thing.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. They won’t let you bring any liquids or pastes in your carry-on luggage. I guess the guys were going to assemble a bomb with the chemicals in shampoo bottles or something. You have to check your toiletries or they will just throw them away.”
“Great… I swear. It’s not worth it to fly anymore. Man, we’ve got a trip to San Antonio next month. I don’t want to have to fly with all this hassle. I wonder if we can drive it instead.”
“I’m just glad we drove to Vegas.”
If fear is the spur to prevent danger, then the media is doing the world a service. Somehow, I think it’s not…

I read several webcomics, but there isn’t one out there like Diesel Sweeties. It’s an original. When I first started reading it, I was fascinated by the pixelated artwork, but now, I just see each character. They aren’t pixelated anymore, they just are.
I don’t just get entertainment from Diesel Sweeties, I get great quotes from them as well:
You can read Diesel Sweeties for yourself here:
Every time I get angry I think of the red robot. I don’t want to be that guy, so it helps me be a little calmer. No matter who you are, there is someone in Diesel Sweeties that you can love or relate to. Give it a try and enjoy!
