Criminal Minds, Episode 2.11

December 4th, 2006 by Michael Moncur in Quotations, TV

I’ve been a bit behind on posting the quotations used in CBS’s Criminal Minds. To catch up, here’s a brief look at the quotes in the episode that aired last week. This time we have two parallel quotations from T. S. Eliot:

While the quotations in this program aren’t always accurate, this episode is a pleasant exception. Both are excerpts from the poem The Hollow Men. They also partially quoted the last lines of the poem, which may be familiar:

Criminal Minds, Episode 2.10

December 1st, 2006 by Michael Moncur in Quotations, TV

Here are the quotations featured in last week’s episode of the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds. I was out of town last week so I just watched this episode. Another episode aired this week and will be covered on Monday.

I’m not sure if either of these is accurate, especially the first one. The Emerson quotation appears frequently online, although they phrased it a bit differently in the show.

Criminal Minds, Episode 2.9

November 20th, 2006 by Michael Moncur in Quotations, TV

Once again, here are the quotations featured in last week’s episode of the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds.

I’m not sure about the authenticity of either of these, but we did have both in our database before the show. The Gandhi quotation was worded slightly differently on the show, but they do tend to edit them for length, so this version is likely more accurate.

New Quotes Month: Total 559

November 15th, 2006 by Laura Moncur in Site News

We’re about halfway through the month and about halfway through our goal. There is a big Thanksgiving weekend coming up and I really don’t want to be typing quotations on Turkey Day, so I’ve got to pick up the pace a little bit. Here are some of the best quotes I’ve added to the collection recently:

As you can see, I’ve found even more quotations from the game Animal Crossing: Wild World. There should be a literary award for video games. This one was written so well, they deserve a Newbery, if you ask me.

Guy Kawasaki interviews Jon Winokur

November 14th, 2006 by Michael Moncur in Links, Site News

Venture capitalist and business blogger Guy Kawasaki has an entertaining 10-question interview with Jon Winokur. Jon is the author of The Portable Curmudgeon, one of the first quotation books I ever purchased.

Read it for Winokur’s thoughts on arrogance, humor, quotations, Republicans, and the French, and a sampling of his favorite quotes. He even mentions our site and calls it “one of the better ones,” which I found flattering—Jon’s books are one of the things that inspired me to create this site in the first place. Granted, it’s in the middle of a paragraph about his preference for using anything but quotation websites as sources, but we’ll take whatever compliment we can get from a curmudgeon.
