Parenting is a wonderful thing, and in the end, sure, I would rather see a person who raised 10 brand new productive members of society over someone who has no real legacy. Still though, it is the fact that being a parent is something that is so crappily done that removes the overall glory IMO. A sixteen year old girl is a parent now, and when all she does is toss it to her mom for care, what does that make me care of her? Do I now hold her opinion over someone who goes to work everyday and doesn't live off welfare? I feel bad for the child, but that is all.

In the end, I think that is what it is always about, our natural inclination towards the care and comfort of children, that we are more impressed with a mom who goes to work or a mom who stays at home cleaning versus a nonparent doing the same things. We say "Oh, she must have it so rough, plus the child" and then just forget about the person who has no children.

Being a parent should never be a medal that is worn, it should be a tatoo on your soul.

Not being a parent should be a medal that is worn, afterall... sex is so much fun.
