I was watching CNN a few days ago. The programme was dealing with the upcoming Russian presidential election.
During the programme a Russian proverb was quoted and I am looking for the exact wording. The proverb was suggesting that, in Russia, the past was often altered in the sense of history being written by the victors.
As far as I remember the wording, of the proverb, was "in Russia, even the past--------------".
I can't remember the correct ending. Can anyone help?

If anyone is interested I caught a repeat, yesterday, of part of the above CNN programme.
The correct wording of the proverb is "in Russia, even the past is unpredictable".
