We're outsourcing to other countries, depleting our reserves, and getting in debt. We are one of the major players in this War in Iraq. Most people are waiting for the war to be over so that their stocks can rebound, but currently, our supplies are being bled without replacement. That's what I think.

I knew that our economy was effed up, but our economey is screwed up too?! What next?!

And not only is the Canadian doller equal to the US doller, the Canadian dollar was actually stronger than the U.S. dollar for awhile. The U.S. dollar is currently, as I type this, a tad stronger:

1 Canadian dollar = 1.034233 U.S. dollars

But then there are advantages and disadvantages to a weak US dollar as concerns its comparison with the Canadian dollar.

If you really want to worry about something, check out the US dollar as it compares to the Euro. No offense to Europeans.

I am not a communist or anything like it,but when it comes to economy,socialism is the best way...Restric personal freedoms,person losses but people wins...i think so...

U.S.A.,leader and defender of capitalism,now about to be destroyed by its own weapon...I think there will be radical changes on its government...

The 'economy' can also work passably well for those with a bit of ambition.
I work, don't get paid overly generous amounts, but am quite comfortable.
I own my vehicles, have a nice house which I will own within 10 years, some reasonably current consumer electrical and electronic gubbii. My son attends a quality school, takes lessons in flying, guitar, Taekwodo and last weekend had some instruction on trapeze. Our health insurance is sorted, bills paid and fridge adequately loaded. So, oh bludgers of the world, if you want to do something about the economy, get a bloody job and become part of it. Sitting in a public square does F*%K ALL!

Bravo compatriot - my story would be similar and was achieved on one income only and it was hard but we were happy and we managed and had no state aid. The children did milk runs, paper rounds, pizza hut etc to earn pocket money as they got older.
Both my children got useful university degrees but each of them had to work several jobs part time and through all holidays to afford it. Now they each have decent jobs and are managing their homes and families happily in the same way, though they are, fortunately double income families.

But you and I were brought up with, and passed on, strange concepts such as -

You give a good full day's work for a day's pay.

You can't have everything all at once - wait and save up until you can afford what you want.

You are responsible for yourself and to care and give a good start for any children you have - they didn't choose to be born.

If you have had a reasonable basic education and there is work available the state owes you NOTHING. The welfare aid should be there for those who have genuine problems.

Admittedly this isn't possible in every country, but should be in most of Europe, North America and Australia at least.
