Last Tuesday, I met a gentleman (well-known, respected amongst the Catholic schools in my city) at a religious ceremony. By circumstance/coincidence/serendipity, we sat next to each other in the same pew. Knowing that this would be a long event, I wanted to break the ice before it began (lest there be awkwardness.) I recognized him, anyhow, so I decided to initiate a friendly conversation. (That was a good decision, by the way.)
After the ceremony, we exchanged "Good-bye, it was a pleasure meeting you", &c. He also said, "Call me some time, maybe we can grab lunch." I suppose that is something that people say, but I said, "Alright, sounds good. Do you want my number or...." And he told me to call his office and set something up.
I called yesterday, and his secretary called me today, and we are getting some grub this week. Should be interesting!

More clarification.

Who's taking who to lunch.
By the way, 'semi stranger' is impossible.

"Lunch with a semi-stranger"
Sounds as though it should be the title of a film as the sequel to "Waiting for Godot".
