Two litigants go to a rabbi to decide their dispute. The first litigant recites his side and the rabbi answers, " You're right." Then the second litigant gives his counter-complaints, and to him the rabbi also responds, "You're right."

The rebbetzin overhearing this asks: "How can they BOTH be right?" To which the rabbi answers, "You're right too."

Refer to the title of the thread. :)

The Law of Noncontradiction is a logical principle that states that nothing can be and NOT be at the same time.

"A" cannot be "Not A"

Two disagreeing parties cannot be wholly true.

The joke is, the judge says everyone is right. And that is illogical.

"Two disagreeing parties cannot be wholly true."

Oops - that is not necessarily true. Just a bad sentence. I can't remember what I was thinking of when I typed it. Ignore it. Everything else stands.

Are they right, or just not wrong?

*suspicious look*

I can't tell if you are being silly (which wouldn't surprise me), or if it is a serious question (because there might be distinctions between "right" and "not wrong"...?)

In any case - that's not the point of the story, mister!
