Is the search for happiness thwarted by seeking it in the materialistic?

Apparently some research has concluded that HIV/Cancer/Etc. sufferers reported a higher rate of happiness, after the adjustment period. The suggestion is they no longer seek gratification in the materialistic but become more content with life and eplore spirituality.

I agree with Gumtree. It's not possible. We appreciate things only by contrast. That's why suffering has value and why heaven is unimaginable.

Where is the "tired and bored" emoticon?

I've often thought that this symbolic expression represented a Zen state of mind.

As for being bored in general, it's easy to change that: read a book, have a sexual fantasy, and on and on, etc etc...

There are so many ways to be naughty and have some fun, or to be serious and thoughtful (which can also be 'fun'). Either way, one is not bored.
