If love makes you happy and happiness comes with a price, why does love feel priceless?

I think there's something askew in this logic, Arrow, so I'll do my bit and try to start a good argument

1. Love clearly doesn't always make you happy, only when its returned in kind and to the full. Or do some people actually enjoy indulging in the misery of unrequited love?

2. Why should happiness come with a price? Can't you just be happy with no bad comeback?

3. I agree love is priceless because it can't be bought.

GT, there is no something askew about this logic, if i may insist.

We know for a fact that in a way to love someone is to be selfish in that we tend to compromise and abandon other opinions for the sake of keeping that love relationship and as such, we pay that price of isolation and going through judgments of other people most of whom are our own families and close friends, for the sake of staying happy in love. And yet, undeniably, it all feels worth it because the happiness we found in being with that special person is such a priceless experience.

That's basically the premise of this quote. I hope i have clarified the matter with you. Thank you.

If it is just other opinions that you will abandon so you could love someone, then these should not make you selfish Arrow unless there is more to your comment than meets the eye. I have been on the losing end of this kind of love and it's not worth it.
