We like to share Music and photos how about sharing our favourite artists or new art and sites we find? Old Masters, Young Mistresses, abstract, tribal, traditional, whatever...........
I like Breughel the Elder who did some great detailed ones like Children's Games and this one I have a print of - if the image bit works
well it didn't and I did the same as we used to for Wonders of the World, so I'll just have to put link in - sorry this wasn't how I meant this post to work, hoped for some pics, what am I doing wrong??

But was also given print of "Been to the Libary" from this website which is such fun and may appeal to our desert dwellers,

My favourites are poetry and painting. Music is something i consume but i don't have a good knowledge about its artistic side.
As well as Turkish poets -no need to mention-, my favourite poets are Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Ovidus,Shakespeare and J.R.R. Tolkien, i'll soon publish a poetry magazine and will share my own Tolkien translations with people.
My favourite painters are Gustav Dore(the one whom i adore), M.C. Escher, René Magritte, and Iman Maleki(have a look at his paintings, an interestin one)
They are quite famous so you can easily find internet sources about them (:

I'm an artist, so this is a huge topic. My favorite artists are actually two local artists who are my friends.
Tony is one of them.

Gumtree,
I also like Pieter Bruegel's work.

Thank you Anajo for putting up the paintings and everyone else for joining in.
Tony, I like Escher and Magritte also, but find Dore rather grim. Our family Bibles where births deaths and marriages are noted, were "Dore bibles" and when we were little my sisters and I used to deliberately go and look at the pictures to scare ourselves as kids do!
Thank you Tommy and Anajo for introducing me to artists I. didn't know about and can enjoy

gumtree, that's why i like him (:
he was a real genius i think, coz he created our "notions" in fact, the world he has created is the root of the modern imaginary-fantasy world. he usually was the first one who tried to design certain imaginary creatures, items etc. and today's fantasy images are mostly based upon his world.
Escher, he doesn't need to be praised, God already praised him by inspiring such great works. My favourite Escher painting is "Sky and Water" and if i have twin daughters in the future i will name them "Gökyüzü" and "Su" which means "Sky" and "water" in Turkish and sounds really poetic(:
Magritte... I wrote a poem about his work "La reproduction interdite". His name must be mentioned before picasso and dali, i think.
remember you once visited my blog, and this pic you met at first, one of Dore's good works, and "i find my soul in it" as we say in Turkey:

Tony,
Thank you for taking the time to check out the other Tony.
Iman Maleki... nice... I enjoy his appreciation of light and the understanding of the intellectual female.

The art of Tony brought to us by Anajo fascinates me and other artists who do huge public art for everyone to enjoy. I always liked Banksy, perhaps more for his messages, humour and audacity as for his art
How about this for "Street" art ?
http://www.fastcompany.com/pics/street- ... ed-prize#1
It'd good that stuff like this can happen around the world

Gumtree,
thank you so much for this link.
Amazing guy this JR
http://www.artinfo.com/news/story/36095/mysterious-globetrotting-street-artist-jr-wins-100000-ted-prize/Quote: According to JR’s own Web site, his artistic practice — which he writes "mixes Art and Act, talks about commitment, freedom, identity and limit" — began when he found a camera in the Paris subway leading to his ownership of "the biggest gallery in the world": the world itself. He dislikes being called a street artist, and prefers the title "photograffeur" (graffeur means "graffiti artist" in French), the New York Times reported. The Times also referred to JR as a "Robin Hood-like figure," although he will not announce until the TED Conference next March how he plans to use the prize to help the impoverished subjects of his work.
