I need to find the origin of this prayer I was taught as a child. I think it's a collect from the Anglican prayer book and goes something like this:

O Lord our heavenly father
Who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day.
Defend us in the same with thy mighty power,
And grant that this day we fall into no sin,
But do all that is righteous in thy sight,
Through Jesus Christ our lord.
Amen

I think a line might be missing in the middle...

Can anyone help?

Prayer for Grace or A Collect for Grace

O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the same with Thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by Thy governance, may be righteous in Thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Book has been in existence since the 1600s but this prayer may have originated ca. 1926/28.
