Just like all human beings with sane emotions, i get affected when lies are said against me. But since it is a lie, do i really have to feel bad about it since only truth does hurt?

Meh. It can suck, but I don't have the time or energy to worry about it. I keep doing what I do and I let 'em think what they want. Sometimes it sucks -- but I can get past it. f--- 'em.
