someone clearify me. How Buddha became Indian philosopher and religious leader? As everybody knows that Buddha was born in Nepal and there's more than enough evidence to prove this in Lumbini, Nepal.

I think you make a valid point. I actually did not know this.
However, everybody's probably off the hook because

wikipedia needed to confirm what I'm about to say:
Buddah started as one person.. though it has been more than one Buddah through the times. Buddah is not one person, it's more a synonym/metaphor (dun wich is more appropriate)

and apparently he had strong relations to india, teached there and seems to have been there he "became":

What relations that has to nepal I don't know, just hit the CTRL+F and Nepal is spoken of at least two times in the text.. keep reading and you might be a bit more enlightened.

I think it is not unreasonable as the countries didn't exist in their current form at the time but Nepal does certainly fall under the Indian subcontinent. That said if it was up to me I would not call him Indian.
