I enjoy writing poetry from time to time, but I hate rhyming. I feel that freeverse is more from the soul than the imagination.

Bluebirds and honeybees are summer season pleasantries;
Like swollen pods of violet grapes or apples ripened cherry red;
They tempt our taste of tit for tat with tantalizing expertise.

Difficulty in what is prose and what is poetry; example my all time
favorite literary endeavor is by William Cullen Bryant--Thanatopsis
I wrote emulating his meter about Sicily, The lst Iraq War, and
A Portrait of America
I had a book published in 2005 "no minor children" ? also.

The poet who hath never coined a witty rhyme
Is like a pauper who hath never beseeched a dime.

Uh, between me and every other peson reading this, I wrote a small love poem because I was really upbeat about Valentine's day. Of course, that wore off.
“My heart and mind,
“Both grilled and fried!
“My tongue a-flutter,
“My legs a-shudder!
“It can only be that time…
“That time of the great St.Valentine!”
“When She walks by,
“I swoon through July!
“When She looks my way,
“I exit the fray!
“When She talks to me,
“I flow with glee!
“But, does She feel same for thee?
“This is, as questions go—
“a quite vexing one, to me!”

I love writing poetry, any kind, just what ever stirke my fancy that day. Here's a recent unedited one-
A galloping storm,
Crossing the plain,
Running from the men
The men that surround them.
They out run them,
But a mechanical bird swoops in
Chasing them back,
The way they came.
Lassoes are swung
Ropes tightened
To capture the stallion
That keeps the herd frightened.
He struggles and bucks,
But no use does it do,
The men have numbers,
And he has few.
Finally it ends,
For he is beat,
The herd rests too,
As they are unnaturally moved.
The stallions released,
to run wild again,
But where are the mares?
Will the ever return?
He will wander,
Looking for his herd,
But none will he find,
For the men have moved on.
And taken his herd with them,
He must restart,
Start a new herd,
Until the men come to battle again.

Nice- that's pretty good. I write poetry, too. Actually, most works I write are songs. Like this one-
 An Angel
"It gets me every time
I'm always so surprised
I wonder why they think this about me
I think I'm used to it
I think I will forget
Then it comes around and shows itself to me
I don't know if I can ask the right questions, still I ask you
Don't you ever wonder;"
"If everybody thinks you're an angel, what do you say?
If everybody views you as perfect, how do you react?
How are you supposed to live up to the person you're supposed to be?
If everybody thinks you're an angel, what do you say?"
"I hope I don't seem stuck up
Don't think I'm playing a game
I promise you, my questions are sincere
I just try to be true
But sometimes I'm so afraid they won't believe me
It's funny how they love you sometimes, then hate you for the same thing"
"If everybody thinks you're an angel, what do you say?
If everybody views you as perfect, how do you react?
How are you supposed to live up to the person you're supposed to be?
If everybody thinks you're an angel, what do you say?"
"If everybody thinks you're an angel, that's ok
If everybody views you as perfect, don't even react
Only try to live up to the person who you are inside?
If angel is all that they can call you, you are blessed."
So . . . yeah, I'm not sure if it qualifies as good poetry nessesarily, but I guess in answer to the actual question- I go for free verse most of the time.

i also write poetry..i write about whatever comes into my mind there some poems (two poems) i have written through some years the first one its called broken shackles:
Broken Shackles
Love, what is love?
But a word,
Nothing more, but my heart beat to that word
Why then do I feel so broken for her?
Lady luck’s fool,
I’ll never know the meaning of love
Nor she of hate,
I found some, but none, why then
Do I keep on going?
Hope!! The thunder roars,
And the wind whispers love,
But hope- It is a treacherous path;
one that leads to success, and the other to disappointment.
As for love, it’s just a word
hope you guys enjoy it...and ill love to know what you think about it....

Awesome Poems Romeo!! I love to write poetry I guess you could say its in my blood my Mother has had her poems published in a few books and loves writing childrens literature (non sadly has been published keep you fingers crossed) Here is one Poem that was on My desk and caught my eye I had wrote it about two years ago on my little house on a lake.
fog
The swirling mists arise like demons from the ground
I breath in there cool wet fumes, they hide me like a thick woolen cloak hanging over my shoulders
Then A mighty glow pierces the dark as the glowing sun rises sending glittering light through the Fog and across the lake
