I want to make sure I got this quote right in meaning. Can someone give me its interpretation
A woman can forgive a man for the harm he does her...but she can never forgive him for the sacrifices he makes on her account.
W. Somerset Maugham, The Moon and Sixpence
English dramatist & novelist (1874 - 1965)
Does this mean the pain and anguish I woman endures after the harm/damage as been done?

I would call it a sexist interpretation of women's motives and/or attitudes as regards their relationships with men. Somerset seems to be claiming that women are willing to deal with any kind of abuse from a man so long as he is not troubling himself about her and her needs to the extent that it puts him out. That being said, I can only see one part of the text and am unsure about the context- the author could be saying something completely different. So, whether or not I was a help is hard to say...

If someone makes a sacrifice for you, you are left under a perpetual obligation. Not good!

Sorry if my interpretation is incorrect. I believe that is the first part is plain to understand. The second part, in my opinion, means that a woman is going to be a woman no matter the circumstances. Men must realize that women are different and sacrifices must be made with no recompense from the woman.
