How many of you write poetry, and what kind of poems do you write? Lyrical, fictional, or do you write on historical happenings, or simply on things that just strike you as being beautiful in a simple way? Please share some of your works!

Countryside
Stalks of wheat gently sway to the
urgings of the winds caress that
carry through the fields inspiring
the dance of the grasses and kissing
the shuddering leaves of trees that
stand tall as sentinels guarding over
the sunkissed land.
The voice of the thrush
shrill and melodious fills
the air in those sweet notes
that tempt the dance of the
dragonflies. Shimmering colors
twinkling as sturdy wings hum
in serenity. Majestic bodies
twisting and turning.
White clouds drifted through
the eternal blue of the sky for
a moment cloaking the sun as
their shadows slide through the
fields
Silken soil teaming with unseen
life as the above world goes uncaring
about their tasks in blissful oblivion
to the labors just underfoot.
Dawn
Sunflower dances
upon the wind
where wren flies
into dawns early light.
Harvest
Harvest reaped
fields of golden
brown; bright red
skies.
Time for slumber
coming on; trees
grown barren; flocks
in formation dot the
air.
Preparations made
for the snow blanket
to come; the world
turned dormant.
Crisp Harvest Moon
fills the sky; a round
watching eye for the
snowfall.
A time of mixed
sorrow and joy of
death and togetherness
A beautyoverwhelming;
fallen womb waiting
to birth the return
of life and green.
Trees
Ghazal Set
The wind whispers in the trees
causing the shake ofleaves in willow trees.
Softly sings the bard hissong
to honor the standing trees.
Rooting around the squirrel
will store winter food in thetrees.
Watching out the window I
am awed by all thetrees.
There us a serenade softly sung
young loves make loveunder willow trees.
Still Life
Life escaped--
Motionless bodylaying
still
Featherless--
Pink; those large
bulging eyes still
closed
Against the gray
cement. Leftforgotten
passed by
Once gapping beak
forever closed
Helpless yet no
longer in need of
help.
Breath no longer
drawn. Wings
undeveloped spread
in mock
flight.
Unfortunate orphan
sent to rest.
Life now
stilled.
Sunflower
Green stalks tower
upward into the sky
to end in brightyellows
tinted with orange,open
faced to the sun.
Swaying in the August
gusts of wind. Seeds
sit ripening to beplucked
by innocent fingers.
Thick leaves casting
shade, ascaterpillars,
fuzzy, and black and
orange, October colors
creep and crawl.
Nobles of the field,
shinning kings of thecrop,
splendid in beauty,vibrant
with strength. Offeringchildhood
memories.
Days in the summerssun,
preparations for All HallowsEve,
a bridge between theseasons.
Ancient yet stillbeloved.
Natures tradition.
Sunset
Colors erupt in fieryreds
burning yellow,passionate
orange, and mellowedby
pink.
The sky becomes washed
in painted colors likean
artists brush sweeping
across.
Blue standingbackground
streaked in hotfire
colors with dabs ofwhite
here andthere.
Lined with gold withsummers
fields spreadingout
each grain reachingout
as if to grasp apiece
of the sky.
Now and then a blackfleck
spotted in redflitters here
and there, defyingthe
stillness.
Perfection crafted on
the living canvas.
Brother Wind
A leaf floats upon the
water, soft ripples move
outward from it withthe
gentle footsteps of the wind.
Strolling through the trees,
signing low fretful songs,yet
still carefree, not to be touched.
A blade of grass, slender
and green, neverfeeling
the stride of the wind,but
for a small quiver.
And the birds would dance
within his hair, this only makes
him smile, for he felt it not
but gentle caress.
All would know his presence,
as he passes by, but never
would they see him,only
traces left behind.

I try to write anyway, about whatever strikes me. I've only ever written one "nature" sort of poem, about snow (not surprising considering where I live) But I think I'll refrain from posting any
Romeo, I loved your poems.
