From Outdoor Life Triva Game:

What firearm is known as "The gun that won the West?"

The editors of Outdoor Life had posted the answer as the Winchester 94. This is either a mistake or an error. The Winchester 94 was preceded by the Winchester 73 (1873) and it became known as the "The Gun that won the West."

During my recent recovery I had time to read through Volumes I & II of Outdoor Triva and discovered many errors.

(I am now back on two feet.)

Seems like not everyone agrees....

By the by, I own a Winchester .44 caliber magnum carbine, known as "The Trapper"

Well the answer seems to be right in front of you. The gun that is said to have won the west is simply the Winchester lever-action rifle. Sub-models are just the same rifle modified or slightly improved, but in essence is the same gun.
