Hello,

The literature pare contains one entry of Hans Christian Andersen:
Andersen's Fairy Tales (Short Stories, 1875, 158 pages)

The literature page does not specify the translator (or I could not find it). It would be kind if somebody could tell me who translated these tales.

Thanks in advance,
and a Happy New Year,
Christian

Hans Christian Andersen
Fairy Tales and Stories
English Translation: H. P. Paull (1872)
Original Illustrations by
Vilhelm Pedersen and Lorenz Frølich

I think there are other translations, but I think that one is most likely the one you are looking for.

Dear Thenostromo,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I fear, however, that H. P. Paull is not the translator I was looking for. If I understood correctly what I found at http://hca.gilead.org.il/ she is translator of the following version:
http://hca.gilead.org.il/snow_que.html

On http://www.literaturepage.com/ I find a different version:
http://www.literaturepage.com/read/ande ... es-57.html
which seems to my ignorant eyes/ears to represent a better translation. (Note: As I do not master the Danish language I can not really judge.)

Do you know the translator of this second version? Who put this etext there (and might/should know the answer)?

Best regards,
Christian

PS: I found the following list of translations:
http://hjem.get2net.dk/chenero/hca/index.html#027
and it gives both versions, specifying Mrs. Paull as translator for the first one, and ... nobody as translaotr for the second one...

Nobody seems to know the translator of this version
http://www.literaturepage.com/read/ande ... es-57.html

Another try: I am looking for the translator of the following German version, also cited several times in the internet, but always without specifying the translator (it is a pity how often there is no translator specified in ebooks):
http://gutenberg.spiegel.de/andersen/ma ... chneek.htm
http://www.pinselpark.de/literatur/a/an ... eek01.html
http://hjem.get2net.dk/chenero/hca/hcaev027_de.html
Somebody knows the translator of this version?

Best regards,
Christian

I can't be of much help, but our version on The Literature Page came from the Project Gutenberg version (hcaft10.txt). I took a look at the original file and it doesn't name the translator.
