Any starting reading Fantasy should read The Hobbit and LoTR they are really were fantasy became seperate to fairy tales, myths and legends. Pratchett is always good for something general. There is so much to go at though just pick something from a library until you find something you like.

I'll be starting The Thief of Always by Clive Barker with a reading group. Anyone have an opinion about this book or author?

Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels are all great.
Right now I'm reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and it's so good!
I've read The Hobbit and loved it; it's one of my favourites.

The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper. Though I'm not sure if it counts as strictly fantasy.
