My daughter read The Little Prince when she was little and she liked it and again when she was older (maybe in French) and liked it on a different level.

level is in people's heart. that book isnt just only a child book and most of the grown up's "level" isnt enough to understand it by heart too.

For pre-school to K-3 kids, you have to look at books by Roy Gerrard and those by Barbara Helen Berger--especially Grandfather Twilight. AWESOME on many many levels.

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Stories is awesome, one of my favourites to read my daughter.

For young adult books, The Giver IS an amazing book. So is Touching Spirit Bear. And Holes, as someone said earlier, can't be a more engaging book for children to read.

My favourite books when I was little was the Faraway Tree Series that my mum had brought over from the UK with her when she moved to Australia. I have read them so many times, I love it. I used to pretend I was in the book, and had my own Faraway Tree and everything!!

My other faves where the Narnia Chronicles, which were absolute treasures. The Horse and His Boy was always my fave, along with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
