A poem I wrote sometimes ago..!!

CONFUSION..!!

Empty surroundings, silence moments
And little birds chirping outside the window
Cold winter is here and my feet are cold
I feel so isolated, recluse, and detached

Depression, melancholy, gloominess
It seems fruitless to hope and dream and pray
Emptiness building a home inside of me
And the deepening sea of awkwardness within

Tortured, haunted and littered
Still destined to walk through the moments of life
Tearing myself into half with every momentary count
Feeling much offended and smashed and destroyed

I am falling down now and again
But not a soul is nearby to embrace me
People celebrating and merry making
And my continuation seeming hence pathetic

mingma,

A few years ago, my younger brother committed suicide. He was 39.
The day after his wife told us that he had been a manic depressive for twenty years. He'd been diagnosed when he was at college, but nobody told us. We never knew.

In retrospect we realize that all members of our family have a touch of depression althougn none of us has as much of it as my younger brother had.

I realize now that this family trait has kept me from achieving as much as I would have liked. It wastes so much time and energy on useless persuits. It wastes life. Now at age 58 I understand it and it no longer holds me prisoner. Would that I had understood it when I was younger.

It is in the teenager years and that twenties that depression takes its greatest toll. It is then that one must put out the greatest effort into resolving basic issues of life and setting oneself up in life. Depression, an imbalance in brain chemistry, can ruin your efforts at this critical time.

If nothing seems to work, if you feel yourself spinning your tires and get nowhere, get help. There's no disgrace in this. Millions of us are in the same boat and it's not our fault.

And remember, with time you will overcome this. But why wait until you're middle-aged and your life is mostly over? Get help now.

joan_of_arc_friend,

Thank you for that message. I really appreciate your taking time and leaving that advice for me.

I am very sorry to hear about your brother. I don't even know what to say about it except I feel sorry for your brother and also for your family. It must have been tough time.

As I mentioned, I wrote the poem sometimes ago. I do not have that feeling of depression anymore(at least I think so). There were times and even now, sometimes I feel the same feeling but I think its more of a frustrations of not being able to do anything about something which if given a chance and ability, I could change into something better.

I will keep in mind what you have said and to be frank, your message has just made me feel better...!!

Thank you again.

Mingma

Good luck! :D

And remember. Many people have said don't divide your forces into small pieces. Nobody can do a hundred things well. Concentrate your energy on what brings you the most good.
