My name is Othmane, i am a young Muslim from Morocco.

I just wanted to clarify that is Islam is not what most of Americans & Europeans think.. Islam is a religion of Peace, Respect of all other faiths.

Jihad is not terrorism, it is not what some terrorists think it to be..
Jihad means in Arabic Self-Defence = the right to defend yourself IF you are agressed/attacked by others (muslims or not muslims)..

It has nothing to do with what we see in news!

As 99.999% of Muslims in the world, I am a believing Muslim (I do prayers and all my religious musts) and I respect all human beings whatever their religion/race/sex/nationality.. because I know that Jihad in our religion is not hating or terrorising others that have different faiths.

hello.. i do not ask this with any kind of disresect but doesn't Jihad mean mean holy war?and please no that i mean none of this in a bad way i just wish to no if this is true and if so what are your views on it?

I am not a specialist and my English is not perfect, so I am worried you mis-understand me

They say (not muslims) Jihad is a holly war, that only in a mean that if you DEFEND yourself against your agressors (muslims on not) you get blessings from God if you win and you get Paradise if you have been killed.. because you are agressed, because you are a victim..

So Terrorism has nothing to do with jihad!

Jihad is defending yourself/your land/your family O N L Y when you are agressed!

Hola, or G'day. My experiences with the Muslim community here in Melbourne have always been about par for society in general. Some rather unpleasant, some very pleasant, some reserved, some outgoing. Rather like all People actually. We need a jihad against bloody generalisation.

Hello Mezian.

That was very interesting to know. It explains an aweful lot, as well as poses a few questions. Do you feel, as a Muslim, you are a victim of Western society in some way? If so please explain, not because I don't expect you to, but because I want to know why. Do you feel that any other members of the Islamic faith feel this or have any reason to feel they are vitcims of Western society and that they have a right to exercise Jihad against Western civilisation? This may clear up for me why some Islamic 'extremists' become martyrs and 'suicide bombers' and goes a long way to explaining some of the thinking of an Islamic 'extremist'. On another note, this shows, to me, the failure of people to listen to each other, for if they listened, then maybe people wouldn't feel so violated (I refer to both Western and Middle Eastern culture).

2. I am not an extremist so I can't understand their mentality to expalin it to you.

I think you don't understand me. I was not saying you condone terrorism. Nor was I assuming you were an extremist. I was questioning whether you felt that the Western World was victimising the Islamic people. I can see why you might take that the wrong way. I'm not calling you a terrorist, I'm trying to get your opinions on the way Western and Middle Eastern societies interact.

Look,

Terrorism is everywhere, a terrorist or an extremist can be Muslim, Christian, Jew or Atheist..

Terrorists from all religions Muslims/Christians/Jews, believe that violence is the unique effective solution to make their voice reach the world.. everybody may be a victim of their acts, so their violence is not only applied on the others, but their citizens are often the first to suffer from them.
