Quotations and Literature Forum

I know everyone has to make a living somehow, but I'm getting sick of the number of pop-up windows that I'm getting slammed with as I surf Quotations Page website. If I don't close them right away (which I usually do), before I know it I've got upwards of 7 or 8 open explorer windows.
Usually that only happens if I stumble into some porn site, or tripod or angelfire.
It seems like it has gotten much worse just in the last couple weeks or so.

Yep, I've noticed this as well. Many pop ups. I'm not to sure if they will be eliminated though, since they are sponsors of the site, which are probably needed for the income of quotationspage.

Edit: I just realised. I haven't seen these pop ups in quite some time, and I have just realised why. Instead of going to www.quotationspage.com I go to www.quotationspage.com/forum . I don't seem to get any pop ups when I go there.

I'm pleased to report that so far I have been spared any of these on this site.

Does that mean they are associated with the server rather than the website?

Please do complain/comment when you run into things like this, I need the feedback.

pop-unders: (ads that start minimized) - We normally only allow one per browser session, but I'm experimenting with an advertiser that uses more of them. This experiment will end soon and is not likely to be repeated. I'm adjusting it today so frequent forum visitors should see less/none of these.

pop-ups (ads that appear over the browser window) - We never run pop-up ads. At least not on purpose. If you see one, it means either you have something running on your computer (spyware or a leftover from a previous site you visited) or that one of our advertisers is being sneaky. If you ever see a pop-up ad here, let me know who the advertiser was so we can stop it.

I am expereincing unwanted "pop-up adds" and it is really popping my cods. It seems like everthing is popping my cods during the recent heat wave.

"CONGRATULATIONS
You are the 15,000,000th visitor to this website."

Hmm could have sworn I was also the 15,000,000th yesterday too...

Those are the worst - I try not to run them, but we can't control 100% what ads are shown.

Worse, I get people emailing me and asking for their "prize". Apparently it's not an obvious scam to everyone...

Mgm- And here I was thinking, this pop-up is annoying ME, I'm feeling for you, but at least I can promise you I won't send you any, "where's my money... you promised" emails.
