Read 'Half asleep in Frog Pyjamas' by Tom Robbins and loved it.

Also, I like 'Franny and Zooey' by J.D. Salinger so much better than 'Catcher in the Rye'. Or maybe I should read catcher again.

Sanctuary: a small safe place in a troubling world

My absolute favorite is probably Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The imagery of the opening paragraphs grabs ahold and never lets go.

A close second would be Handling Sin by Michael Malone. One sane man's adventures across the South with his crazy family. Funny, sad, enlightening, nostalgic and uplifting all at once.

My favorite for the time being is "Mice and Man" by John Steinbeck.
Still reading it though. Its petty cool and becomes more and more interesting once you get deeper, and deeper into the story.

How can a person choose a favorite book? there are too many to choose from. Zen and the art of Motorcycle maintennance was great, but then so is the Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. I just read E-mails From A Madman, by Jarod Kintz and that was hilarious, but then so was Cruel Shoes, by Steve Martin. The Puppet and the Dwarf b y Zizek was classic, but I also loved Thus Spoke Zarathustra, by Nietzshe. All I can say is I wish I could love for a thousand years, just so I could make a dent on all the great books out there. Oh, and I can't leave off Freakonomics or Fooled by randomness, both enlightening reads.
