I have not found true love yet, my future lies with the fates, a far greater opponent than myself. I have thought about the public's general ideas towards love, and after pressing myself to find something somewhat analogous, I decided on fire, because I don't think it's been used before.

Basically, the public has adopted the idea that it is necessary, provides comfort and warmth, and, so long as your hand goes through it quickly, you will not get hurt.

What people don't realize is that the getting hurt is a crucial part of our development as individuals. We are on a quest to find the one magical fire that will not burn or char us no matter how long we rest within it. Of course, here lies the problem with our perception: We cannot know if it will char and burn until we allow it to. I believe Carl Jung compared this process to a scientfic experiment.

In the end, we can only find our true love if we rid ourselves of this notion that has fermented in our brains, and open our eyes to the polluted saltwater around us, no matter how much it stings. Only the knowledge that we can get up and try again, to in effect heal our wounds, put to rest our scars, will enable us to do just that.

I don't think whether we love or not is up to us. We love what we love.

If you mean why should a person try... I think it's because the potential benefits far outweigh the risks. In the end, you get over lost love... Love itself, in it's purest form, is eternal.

With love, as with a lot of things in life, you learn many things. You learn many lessons. Love is probably one of the best teachers.

i agree on a basic level. i believe that we can't help who we love. i think that basically everyone agrees with that. let me know if i'm wrong. however, in a way, i think that we can control it. my mom told my sister once that you do decide and we thought that she was crazy. than she explained herself. she said that we can't fall for someone we don't know or hang out with. you are limited to who you fall for to who you hang around with. if you hang out with a bunch of druggies, you are more than likely going to fall for a druggies. i agree with her. what does everyone else think?

It's kinda like what they say in psychology. Those who are brought up poor are most likely going to stick around people that are poor. Those who are brought up around people that are rich, will most likely stick with people that are rich. The poor will not marry someone rich, and the rich will not marry someone poor.
