I think that a good fantasy series is "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan. I have not finished the series yet, because it is 11 books long.
I am currently reading, "The Dark Elf Trilogy" by: R.A Salvatore
Are all of his books good?

Johnathon Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susana Clarke is brilliant best fantasy I've ever read. Pratchett is good too. For comic stuff anything Discworld before Mort after that it is more serious still some laughs.

I think some of the best fantasy/sci-fi out there is the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. It has a nice mix of everything and he just draws you into his world. If you haven't read these, you should check them out.

My boyfriend keeps on telling me that I should read "The Dark Tower" Series. Can you give me an idea as to what it is about?

I stopped reading any fantasy. I simply do not enjoy them. All that magic and such... It's very creative, but I just can't seem to appreciate it as much as I do non-fiction, realistic fiction, and the like. I used to like it... I read the first four Harry Potter books...

You should read the last two that were made. They were rather good. I don't know. I find appreciation in fantasy more than I do in non-fiction.

Katherine Kerr and Robin Hobb have both been repeated (!) favourites of mine...

I'm not certain whether you would consider this fantasy...but I just find Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels just hilarious. They are set in sort of a fantasy world, but are really more satirical.

what are they about, or are they all different. A rough explanation of one of his books would be nice.

Oh my gosh...where do I begin...?
In the Discworld series, Pratchett creates this alternate universe filled with witches and wizards and random people who are so hilarious...poking fun at every possible thing you can imagine.
There is a book called "Good Omens". It is written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I suggest starting with that to get an idea of Pratchett's style. Beware: "Good Omens" pokes fun at a lot of religious concepts, so if you are a person of a lot of faith and are easily offended, maybe read one of the others instead...I, personally, found it absolutely side-splitting laugh-out-loud funny.
Besides being smart comedies, all of his novels provide clever critiques of religion, government, and other concepts or societal bodies.
Wow, I guess I rambled a bit...Hope that is enough description...I don't want to give anything away...Every one of the discworld novels reveals something new about another one of the novels...And really, you could start at any point in the series (although I recommend starting at the beginning, of course)

I quite liked the "Northern Lights" trilogy by Philip Pullman...I don't know if it's strictly fantasy though...another good one is Eragon by Christopher Paolini ( I think that's how you spell it... ). And of course, there's the classic "Lord of the Rings" trilogy that has fantasy. Um...there's another trilogy with a book called "the wind singers"...don't know who the author is though...but it's a little more for younger readers - it's not a children's book, but I don't know if it'll appeal to an adult as much to a youngish teen...
Oh well...that's all I can remember right now!! Hope it's helped!
