The animals on your books say a lot about you!!!

I agree with Jabberwock that of course books are judged by their covers. Whether you are attracted to a battered book because of its age or the romanticism involved, or a new book with its pretty art, there is always something that makes you pick a book off from the shelf.

The saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" is really ridiculous, whether applied to people or books. Everyone does it. Exteriors give people a general idea of the interior. Although people are of course more complex than books and their content/character cannot be judged by their exteriors, a general idea of the person's nature can be inferred from the way they present themselves.

No, not alone. I always judge a book by it's cover and title. You see, it's the mysteriousness in what you're going to read and the fact that you'll maybe say "This is a great book!" or say "I wasted my money!". Both with exclamation marks though.

Then, answering to the post above, I don't really think the saying refers to books, but since books have covers they used it for this saying. Of course, in old times covers were only good if a rich person made them so it might've come from that. Then, I'm getting into another topic.

It is inevitable .. we are influenced by the cover what ever objective we try to be.
