How about calling someone an a$$hole? I heard recently that people in some northern states of the U.S. say this as a term of endearment to friends.
Go figure.

So I watched a programme the other night on one of those pseudo-high brow documentary channels about using the 'c' word. In the programme, one working class male interviewed from London said that even the 'c' word typically thought of as the worst of all profane words can be used in a more friendly way, e.g. of a beggar 'aww look at that poor c***.' So there you go.
