This adult class is for people who use cotton or other cellulose fibers: weavers, quilters, knitters, crocheters, rag rugs makers and other fiber artists. You will learn the basics of dyeing yarn and/or fabric using Fiber Reactive MX dyes which are colorfast and accessible to home dyers. Students will have an opportunity to learn many standard dye techniques as well as nontraditional and creative dyeing which feature beautiful shading of colors and interesting color effects.
For those of you who like to jump in and make a colorful connection...I have been teaching classes at John C Campbell for several years. I regularly teach handweaving and hand dyeing process.
If you have never been to (or heard!) of The Folk School, you may be in for a treat. Check out the website above or give them a call for a current catalogue. The Folk School is in the mountains of Western NC...absolutely beautiful. The Folk School offers classes in Writing, Cooking, Crafts of ALL kinds, Nature Studies, Music and Traditional Dancing....English Country to Contra to Irish Step....
My Dye Class in May will be limited to only 8 students so that everyone will get lots of individual attention. Come ready to play!
