There is a group that I listen to a lot. The bands name is Enigma. I don't know if anyone here has heard of them, but the lead singers name is Michael Cretu. There is one song of his that I don't understand. Some of the lyrics just leave me totally confounded. It is the one song of his that just does not fit the rest of his music. Here are the lyrics:

Look into the mirror of your soul. Love and hate are one and all. Sacrifice turns to revenge, and believe me, you will see the fate that says: I love you, I'll kill you, but I love you forever.

Can anyone tell me what this means. I think it's kind of twisted.

Thanks,
Raven

I don't think it's twisted as in being twisted...I think u have to go through what the writer went through to understand, creative people are crazy!! (not at all in a bad way though!!)
what I most don't get is this:
Quote:
Sacrifice turns to revenge

I'll give it some thought and if anything comes up I'll let u know!! maybe I'll even download the song now!!

There is another group they are thinking of with the same name. They worship the devil. This music isn't at all like that. At least thats not the impression that I ever got from them. I'll listen to the song and write down all the lyrics. Then maybe it might make more sense.

"Look into the mirror of your soul."-- I think that's pretty self-explanatoiry and just an introduction

Then the song begins to discuss the common idea that there is a thin line between love and hate because both states tend to stir up passion and dedication when a person is in that state.

"Love and hate are one and all. Sacrifice turns to revenge"
When you love someone, you are willing to sacrifice for them and when you hate someone you would like to take revenge upon them. The song discusses how love can easily be turned into hate because they are so "close" to eachother.

"and believe me, you will see the fate that says: I love you, I'll kill you, but I love you forever."
Finally, all the remaining verses say is that in time you will see that love and hate are closely related emotions or states of being, saying that you can feel both love and hate for a person at the same time, but the song does provide a positive ending saying that love is still the stronger emotion.

---That's my best interpretation, anyway

ya that does make sense...
and it turns out they do worship the devil; don't they have a song called sadness?

First of all rnassar_7, Nahwatah Ravenheart said "There is another group they are thinking of with the same name. They worship the devil. This music isn't at all like that."

Secondly, the song sadness, if you ask me, is actually positive in the typical sense of the word.

Quote:
Sade tell me what is it
that you seek
The rightness of wrong
The virtue of vice
Sade tell me why the
Gospel of evil?
What is your religion?
Where are your faithful?
If you are against God,
you are against man
Sade tell me why blood for
pleasure?
Pleasure without love?
Is there no emotion in the
cult of man?
Sade are you diabolical or divine?

Sade tell me
Sade give me
Sade tell me
Sade give me
Sade tell me

Besides the fact that author is wondering why they choose the "rightness of wrong" and "virtue of vice" and then relating it to the gospel of evil. Is there no emotion in the cult of man?Furthermore, I think the lines "If you are against God,you are against man" is pretty much a strong sign that the song is not about devil worship.

Unless, I am misinterpreting the lyrics, I think the band that Nahwatah Ravenheart is talking about does not worship the devil.

Most of his music is on Love, Sensuality, and Devotion. They are a pop/techno/Ethnic band. There music is a mix of all different cultures. People use the music for dance and meditation uses, or just plain listening. I use it a lot of times to help me write. So considering the style of their music, I don't think they are devil worshipers.

Destiny Creator,
Thank you for helping me with that.

Glad I could help. I had a lot of fun with the verses actually; it was cool.
