Providing it is done gradually I think it would be good if the coalition left the Middle East but only if a power vacuum is not left behind.

One of the main thig that angers me about the G8 countries is there attitude to world debt take Nigeria for example (The figures are of course common knowledge but just in case anyone hasn't seen them before)

The US & UK gave nigieria a $17bn loan $18bn has been repaid and $34bn is still owed. Furthre more we always here the Senate and House of Commons saying that cancelling this debt won't help them becuase you can't just give money to the poor to make them better off. Who do they think they are fooling?

i would say that it is true, we no longer see brave people willing to defend their country and if there are, they are trying to avoid being sent to battle were they would be risking their life... which is partially influenced by a completely different force... the fear of death. If no one feared death or if we were immortal no body would mind going out to defend their country.

is anyone going to add anything to this?

Maybe its also because at the moment there are no wars being fought where the west is defending itself.

True, but a patriotic country wouldn't sit back untill someone came and attacked us again. They would decide to support their country in whatever endeavour and should be willing to risk life and limb for the good of the many. That is the patriotism that I want to see return. The patriotism that sets aside conflicts and disagreements long enough to help better the country that Americans all love.
