Life is indeed a gamble vis-à-via that which any of us can rationally conceive. And yet evolution itself points logically towards that which is predetermined (because of chain of events), and yet is not the same concept as predestination due to some all powerful god in the sky who directs the state of events. Following this line of rational thought leads one to contemplate chaos theory:
