I'm not sure where the tendency to violence would come from. This is a good question. The theologian in me would say "sin," I suppose.

We are products of evolution, and as such, there are biological factors too. Not only these, but also environment, personality (predisposition), morality, choice, and a gumbo of other variables to take into account.
