Forever, like being in love forever. Is this somewhat illogical since nothing is permanent after all? I understand that maintaining a stable relationship is already a tall order, but forever?

In this day and age, a successful relationship is a rare achievement, but I am not sure what is illogical about it. Such is the fruit of love. I might also suggest that men who are in love with women feel the same way about forever. I know of one or two right now.

I am calling it illogical because it does not match the realities of getting or keeping a relationship which eventually suffers from the tests of time. Yes, a successful relationship is a rare achievement and i guess those who succeed at it musty really be so compatible on all levels and that too rarely happens.

I think that most of the time , the problem lies in people thinking that when they are in love, that love is supposed to make them happy without much effort on both parts to make it that way. Two songs that would probably reflect this. What's forever for every time two fools collide?

In the early years of a good relationship don't people expect it will be forever?

Isn't it rather cold blooded and insincere to approach any relationship actually expecting that it may not last?

Maybe I was a romantic once and still am in theory. Anyway, not brave enough to test the waters again

It must have been a real devastating relationship for you gumtree that you do not want to test the waters again. I can commiserate with you. Betrayal of trust and non-stop infidelities- only the death of a child can compete with that kind of ache. You and i gumtree have survived. I wonder, would those who treated us shoddily be able to live to tell the tale because as sure as the sun will rise from the east or is it west for you gumtree what goes around, comes around, bloody-twice-OVAH.
