Very cool. I was listening to "Treat Me Like A Fool" before clicking on the link.... a tad different. ;)

It's difficult for me to listen to ethnic music in the same way that I listen to "regular" bands. That is, I'm probably not going to sit down and listen to Ravi Shankar or Omar Souleyman like I listen to The Smiths. But it's different and fun, and enjoyable in that way.

thanks for sharing this with us,tommy. He's from Tuva.A Turkish community from central asia.Alas, his language sounds very familiar but i could only understand a few words.
Our eyes have changed their shape, for 300 years,we look like europeans. But when i see someone whose eyes look like asian,i want to hug him/her.

Lingua franca, indeed. What does "ah shu dekio" mean?

alas,i don't know.but it sound very familiar,phonetically...I could only understand few verbs and numbers

Quote:
...The Tuvan language is Turkic, although with many loan-words from Mongolian. It is currently written with a modified cyrillic alphabet, previously used turkic runes, later mongolian, then latin alphabets. When part of China, Tuva was administered as part of Outer Mongolia, and the language difference was a determining factor in Tuva seeking full independence following the collapse of the Chinese Empire....

edit comes after a few mins:Tommy,my bad."Ah shu dekio" means that "oh,what i see"...we say "ah şu gördüğüm" in Turkey Turkish.dek(mek) is the ancient form of the gör(mek)(see),which is still used among tribes those who are more traditional.my grandparents use the verb of dekne(mek) instead of bak(mak)(look). After all,we're brothers with Tuvans, but we can not perfectly understand each other :D
