A long way gone, Ismael Beah

I happen to came across a book about child soldiers in Sierra Leone, written by a former child soldier Ishmael Beah. His village was destroyed by the rebels and had to run with his friends for months through the forest. He lost his parents and two brothers in the civil war. He end up in a military camp and became a child soldier. He was later rehabilitated and finally ends up in New York with his new mother.

He didn’t write this book for people to cry and sympathies for him, but he wants every one of us to act so that no other child in the world should have a similar childhood.
