Which lead to you not being able to answer this thread because you do not have character that you liked from that story that contained the gualities you look for in them? I think I'm actually beginning to understand your riddles. Raven

One thing to recommend to anyone who did not read the books and ever considers giving them a second chance - the first time I read these books, as soon as I found myself getting bored with the description of the clouds floating over the hills in the distance, start skimming the text until you find quotation marks. Almost all of the necessary scenes in the book are begun with a remark spoken aloud by one of the characters.
I think my favorite characters would have to be Bilbo and Smeagol... Smeagol because he was compelled against his nature to be villainous, and Bilbo because his limited participation in the story gave a better insight into how Smeagol came to be what he was.

Not liking the book in general doesn't mean
you can't like the message one of the characters sent
As for the many pages, I have seen
books with more I'd surely recommand

Then don't post in this thread.
I've always had a soft spot for Tom Bombadil. If Mother Nature had a husband, it would be Tom. And Faramir was my first literary crush.

Frodo seems to have a nice personality so that is why he is picked.

It's surely Boromir, because he has an idea, he wants to use ring to save Gondor. May be he is wrong, but at least he has a noble idea...
