Any one here ever read the Celestine Prophecy? by James Redfield... what did you think? For me it had to be one of the most influential books... or maybe it would be better to say moving books...

I didn't read it but our English teacher told us a little abt it...I'm planning on reading it soon so I'll reply then!

What do you like about it so much, raven_jch?

It is a great book with so many parralels in ancient Indian (Vedic) philosophy.

ok I just finished the book last night..
at first I really enjoyed reading it nd was amazed by all the new concepts it presents. but I sort of found it a little bit dissapointing...it just builds up hopes and talks abt these unreachable ideals and u realize that there's no way these can be achieved so I got a little frustrated. I also got mad at myslef for allwoing myslef to get so dissillusioned by its thoughts
it should have a warning on the cover lol..then again, I may have not understood it the way I'm suposed to!! oh well..

Terrible writing in my opinion, but amazing ideas.

that book and indeed the three other books of his that i have read have some good ideas to begin with but later collapse. the authour claims in the celestine vision that the energy is given through goodness which dosent fit in with the symetry that is apparant within nature. it has been shown that at most points the symmetry is broken but to claim that the only way to an enlightened state is through goodness is folly. remember most things can apply to either side. in his later books it soon degrades to a good is always right thing yet countless philosophers have already disputed that. they are interesting to read as fiction but to the point he trys to claim it as something else. id advise caution when reading books of the series as they take those ideas to far. unless you believe all he has written as fact dont read the celestine vision. (by fact i mean the ideas of higher energy that comes from love)
