i read 'a prayer for owen meany'- John Irving on my tutours strong reccomendation. As did a friend. for some reason, perhaps because i had such high expectations, perhaps because i wasn't really paying much attention to the 'throwaway' lines in the first half, perhaps because i've never considored fate to be in existence it just didn't click with me. But she found it incredible, and went on to wirte some of her theories about it in her personal statement for ucas.
I've decided to reread it. I am first going to read the paper she wrote on it. iwas just wondering if anyone could explain to me what they enjoyed or found thought provoking etc.

I would love to hear more opinions on this book. I have seen pieces of the movie, and I have the book sitting right beside my desk in the shelf, but I've never felt the desire to read it. Give me a reason to!
