i'm bout to embark on a book of hers, Pavilion of women its called.
a guy friend of mine lent it to me, he's the macho type, and he confided in me that this book drew tears from him!
i've read letter from peking, and that's a very serene, beautiful and unique love story. its kinda, marriage and beyond stuff.
so any readers here?
u could gimme your views

Person, I had to read Good Earth in high school. I was upset by it and that's a good thing, sometimes.
I don't remember much but the part that stands out was that a poor Chinese woman gave birth in the field and went immediately back to work because she had to.
In other sources, Pearl Buck has had some very poignant things to say about some of the missionaries back then and their treatment of people of underdeveloped nations.

I think I read that short story about the tidal wave in Japan in class once... That was Pearl Buck, I think.

ive read "Pavilion of Women".
It's a, well, a very 'different' kinda book. PSB has some ideas that i dont really agree with.....
it's one thing when u sit down and discuss ideas & beliefs, and quite another when u read a book in which they are presented thru living, full blooded characters u can identify with.
the latter's far more effective in shaking ur calm.
read it if youre the kind of person who can remain detached from a book and keep yourself from getting too involved...
look fwd 2 ur hearing ur opinion after reading the book.
