Need an idea for a story that needs to be set in Australia during the 1940's, 1950's. It would need to be fairly short as I only have about 1000 words to play with.

Try Google and type in "Australia 1940s." There are several items there that can trigger the imagination.

What type of story do you want it to be? Adverture, romance, suspence, thriller,ect. You should have ar least some kind of idea? Also what do you know about Australia in the 1940's and 50's? And if I may sugest, if you only have 1000 words to play with, you might want to limit the decade to just one.

Or how about this lad has passion for Cricket and gets selected to play for the Ashes Series and falls in Love with a lady while playing at lords and how he tried to lift his game to impress her but it went of for a toss....
