A Prayer for Owen Meanie by John Irving
Just about anything Mark Twin wrote!
I also loved Tolkein's LOTR books and Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy.
There are just so many!

'Memoirs of a Geisha' by Arthur Golden, is without a doubt the best book in the world!!!
Noone can argue unless you have read it! So i guess you had go better read it! You'll be amazed, i assure you!!

"The Best Book Ever" is a strongly subjective question as many of the other posts have mentioned; however I too have my opinion on the subject.
Here are my favorites as of the moment:
Of Mice and Men by John Stienbeck
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
