 Sorry to be SO low-brow, but does anyone remember the end of a TV advert 'She's a Wonderful Mother'? What did it advertise. It's driving us barmy here. :?

A lip reader is a deaf person who receives communication by watching the lips and facial expressions of the speaker.

Not to put too fine a point on things, but a 'lip reader' is not neccessarily deaf. Nor are all who use sign language.
