Hi all-

I have found some great quotes by Frank A. Clark but don't really know who he is or what he is known for. All I know is that he was born in 1911 and wrote 'A Country Parson.' What is known for?

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

I think I can help you. Frank Clark was known for being many things. Among others he was extremely sharp, witty and playful. He was a man of incredible moral fiber and ready to poke fun at himself and others to make a point. He passed away in 1990 and is survived by his wife and three sons. He was my grandfather. He was from Elkhart, IA and worked at the Des Moines Register in several capacities before he began writing the Country Parson. His quotes were printed in the Register and became so popular that at it's height, the Country Parson was syndicated in several hundred papers around the country. He compiled collections of his quotes in small books. You can still find them around here and there although they are long out of print. The Register Syndicate still holds the copyright, though I understand it has been taken over by another company several times over. I was pleasantly surprised to find your post and am pleased to see his words are still being appreciated.

Hello Grandson of Frank A. Clark,
You did a big favor to me by posting a reply here. Thanks :-) I have spent the last 3 hours trying to find information about Frank A. Clark. It is sad that there are so many websites referring to his famous quotes and no one had written about him...I loved his quotes and will try to add the info to the web so he can be found for people who love him for what he left behind for us...his beautiful quotes! Thank you again! You are very fortunate to be from that family...God Bless...
Some who respects the man who gave us the beauty in his words...

Granddaughter, but thanks ;) We are all very proud of his work.

For more information on him, you should go to the Des Moines Register's online site- they recently named him as one of their featured "famous Iowans" and wrote a very nice story about him. I tried to post the direct link, but this site won't let me post it for another 10 days. It's easy to find though, I found it by googling "Frank A Clark" "Des Moines Register" "Famous Iowans"

Hello :-) Sorry...I stand corrected. Granddaughter...
Thanks for your reply. I wish you come back to read this...I searched as you suggested and found the article. It is amazing...and I am sure it fills your family with pride! If this site will not post your link (it may interfere with search engine stuff), let's do something. We have an Honor Page on our website...fortune dot bz slash honor1st. (note it is not biz, it is bz) my email is amerinde at gmail dot com (this site also restricts writing email addresses in regular format to avoid spam attacks i guess). Send me an email and we will go from there. I will discuss this issue with my team/partners and find a way to honor him and a way where we can place all his links...what's in my mind is that, actually, "You" have to be appreciated in that page where you want to treasure the memories about your grandpa...it says a lot of good things about you...looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
Asheet
