What do you think were some of the major cultural and social aspects that challenged life in India?

Can someone please help me find two quotes that would help me support the above two aspects?

20000leagues posted a quote in another topic that wroks well for this

The softest things in the world overcome the hardest things in the world.
Through this I know the advantage of taking no action.

Compare this to Ghandi and his non violent approach to English rule in India

First discuss how the English were abusing India, then throw this quote in there, and discuss how Ghandi did everything, by doing "nothing"
