Well I think the way in which it says "Wishing for what is not"

It is in a way saying you should not spend your time dwelling in the past or woring about things you cannot now go back in change. It can only lead to misery if try to undo the things already done.

Instead you should be looking to the future, and concered with "what is" or "What could be" instead of what can never be.

It's true that clinging to far wishes could ache and poison the heart, gradually. Better we cling to a reasonable insight and balanced fortelling clues.
