It depends on the type and style of the tattoo. I, personally, like latin quotes and sayings for tattoos. They're a real conversation starter and aren't as cliche as chinese symbols. If I was to get a tattoo, I would put carpe diem (latin for "seize the day") in the tattoo in cool, bold lettering. It's a versatile quote for all kinds of designs.
Some other ideas:
- "Altius ibunt qui as summa nituntur" (Latin translation: They will rise highest who strive for the highest place.) Check the spelling/grammer on this one. I got it off the internet, and, seeing as I don't speak latin, I cannot be sure of its correctness.
- "Acta non verba" (Latin translation: action, not words). Again, check the facts on this one.
- "Omnia vincit amor" (Latin translation: love conquers all.) It was actually a quote from the philosopher Virgil. Again, check the facts; this ain't English.
- Damnant quod non intellegunt (Latin translation: they condemn what they do not understand.)
- Dominus illuminatio mea (Latin translation: the Lord is my light).
- Fide, non armis (Latin translation: by faith, not arms).
- In vinculis etiam audax (Latin translation: in chains yet still bold [i.e. free]).
- Luctor et emergo (Latin translation: I struggle, yet I still survive).
- Quaere verum (Latin translation: seek the truth).
- Veritas vincit (Latin Translation: truth conquers).
- Vive hodie (latin translation: live today [not tomorrow]).
